This week TELUS won the Best Mobile Experience award for a large company at the third annual Canada Post E-commerce Innovation Awards. The Awards bring together the top people in Canadian e-commerce to celebrate the industry’s innovation, and honour companies that are transforming the Canadian retail space with their visionary e-commerce strategies.
I couldn’t have been more proud of the TELUS digital team and was honoured to represent them. Sitting in the audience I reflected on some of the key decisions we made, especially the choice to embrace and commit to mobile first. We were up against some great competition – MEC, Frank and Oak, Jean Machine and Hudson’s Bay – all of which have impressive mobile and responsive websites.
Watching all of the nomination videos, it was very clear that the thing that set us apart from our competition was our approach: how we engage our customers throughout the design process, validate it continuously to ensure we are creating value, and share everything through the TELUS digital blog. Engaging customers and sharing their ideas is an increasing trend we are seeing with other companies as well – including Nordstrom, Walmart and Gov.uk.
We’ve created the best possible mobile experience for our customers – and these awards are a great validation of that and a testament to the teams’ commitment to mobile first. We’re honoured by this award and we look forward to continuing to create industry-leading and compelling digital experiences for our customers.
